ABOUT Self Care HARD - The Re-Up & WHY I MADE IT
After two years of being in the Upside Down of NYC during a Global Pandemic, turning Forty Years Old, and having my photography project take on a life of its own by turning into a podcast and small business…ya girl realized she was in Survival Mode. I had a lot of of ups and downs and also had very little reserves left. I was leaning into unhealthy habits again, old “stuff” was coming up, I felt isolated from working from home, and disconnected from friends, family, and myself.
The things that I used to like or look forward to didn’t hit for me anymore. I felt like I fell off and was really pissed at myself for letting this happen…AGAIN
After all, I had spent the previous few years really working on my mental health & physical health, paying down my debt, finding my community, and creating this project on the internet. How the hell did I find myself back at square one and slipping again? After a few months of letting myself be in my feelings and holding space for myself - I decided the first step was to focus on my mental & physical health. I gave myself some grace and consideration for all the stress we had been under the last 2 years, I accepted that my nervous system was wildly overwhelmed and needed to recoup.
I accepted that this didn’t happen overnight and that I was probably not going to “bounce back” as fast as I used to.
Also knowing myself I knew I needed to shake it up and create a reset that would let my body, mind, & soul know that I meant business and sort of build the foundation for the next year of healing and personal care that I wanted to do on myself. So I got to work and created this plan I could follow that would set the foundation for “the next chapter of Me” - I laid it all out on post-its and notebook pages on my walls and living room floor.
After seeing how just laying it out and creating the plan for myself already brought on more positivity and something to look forward to for myself - I decided to share it as part of this project for anyone who felt they might benefit from it too, so we could all do it together.
I created a series of videos and podcasts for people to get informed, inspired, and be able to follow and start over as many times as they needed from anywhere, on their own timelines.
